In A Pinch, Out OF Dog Food?
Old Mother Hubbard
Old Mother Hubbard
Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard,
To fetch her poor dog a bone.
But when she got there, her cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
She went to the baker's to buy him some bread;
When she got back, the dog was dead.
She went to the undertaker's to buy him a coffin;
When she got back, the dog was a-laughing.
She took him a clean dish to get him some tripe;
When she came back, he was smoking a pipe.
She went to the hatter's to buy him a hat;
When she came back, he was feeding the cat.
She went to the barber's to buy him a wig;
When she came back, he was dancing a jig.
She went to the fruiterer's to buy him some fruit;
When she came back, he was playing the flute.
She went to the tailor's to buy him a coat;
When she came back, he was riding a goat.
She went to the cobbler's to buy him some shoes;
When she came back, he was reading the news.
She went to the seamstress to buy him some linen;
When she came back, the dog was a-spinning.
She went to the hosier's to buy him some hose;
When she came back, he was dressed in his clothes.
The dame made a curtsy, the dog made a bow;
The dame said, "Your servant," the dog said, "Bow-wow."

Dog Food: Quick Oats & Eggs
This is a simple dog food recipe to use (especially if you have run out of dog food) from Dr Pitcarin. This recipe is not meant as a substitute for dog food on a regular basis as it is higher in protein than most dogs require.
Quick Oats & Eggs
1 cup raw rolled oats (or 2 cups cooked oatmeal)
3 eggs
1 teaspoon bonemeal (or 600 mg calcium or 1/3 teaspoon eggshell powder)
Bring 2 cups of water to boil. Add the oats, cover with lid and turn off the heat, letting the oats cook in the hot water for about 10 minutes, or until soft.
Stir in the eggs and bonemeal. Let the eggs set slightly from the heat, then cool for a few minutes before serving.
Add a little nutritional yeast, if you wish.
Yield: About 2 ¾ cups, with 205 kilocalories per cup.
Daily ration: Makes 1 meal or a half-day’s ration for a medium-size dog. Double the recipe to make meal for a giant-size dog.
Grain substitutes: Instead of oats, use ½ cup bulgur (to cook, use 1 cup water to yield 1 ¼ cups cooked).
